GOLD BRACELET
A gold bracelet is a cylindrical ornament worn around the wrist or upper arm. It has been one of the most popular forms of ornament since prehistoric times. Gold bracelets are a universal form of jewelry that can vary in both style and use. Historically, they have been worn singly or several at a time by both sexes. Gold bracelets have been used for protective and decorative purposes, in rituals and to indicate one's social status.
GOLD BRACELET MATERIALS
There are many different materials for gold bracelets with the one we most often think of being Yellow Gold. People from all cultures all over the world have used indigenous or imported materials, man-made and natural materials to make them. Yellow gold for jewelry is usually made up of pure gold that is mixed with other metals such as silver and copper to achieve greater durability and the desired color tone. Pure 24 carat gold is not suitable for creating everyday jewelry because it is too soft. To make 18K gold, 75% pure gold (which is naturally yellow in color) is mixed with 25% other white metals. These are known as alloys. Mixing the pure gold with white metals results in a softer, creamier yellow tone as opposed to the slightly buttery, brassy color of 24k gold.
At the beginning of the 2000s, for example, mantle began to manufacture bracelets made of soft or hard glass. Even these glass bracelets can be made in molds or be free-formed, the latter process being slower and not nearly as precise. Microelectronics used in some modern wristbands can now produce movement, light, sound and important information linked to today's technology. Even today, bracelets in gold are popular and yellow gold is considered a very exclusive metal.
DIFFERENT STYLES OF GOLD BRACELETS
There are many different styles of gold bracelets and where they are worn on the body determines whether they can be classified as a bracelet. For example, bracelets worn below the elbow are classed as what we traditionally associate with "bracelets". An important design factor for a gold bracelet is size, it must neither be so large that it slips off the hand when relaxed, nor so small that it cannot be slipped over the hand or fit around the wrist. In general, there are three different styles gold bracelets are created in: link, slip-on or so-called rigid and split with hinges. Gold link bracelets are sized to fit the wrist comfortably and allow the links to drape flexibly. Slip-on styles are rigid shapes and can be either open or a closed circle or other shape. Divided with hinges is one of the most popular as it has a versatile and simple use. A gold bracelet should have rounded ends to fit the wrist comfortably.
Each period in history has had an impact on the different styles of gold bracelets. Styles can vary in complexity - from, for example, simply worked seashells to the intricate designs evident in East Asian metalworking. During the twentieth century, gold bracelets, charm bracelets and identification bracelets were some of the most popular styles.
CHARMS FOR BRACELETS IN GOLD
Charms and perhaps just gold bracelets, are a special and unique type of jewelry with a long history dating back to ancient Egypt. Charms were intended to ward off evil or to endow the wearer with special powers. The original charm bracelet was the Egyptian eye bead, attached to a circle, used to charm, fascinate or reflect the malicious intentions of others.
Its spiritual function became so popular that it was adopted by neighboring cultures, and it is still worn today in many Middle Eastern countries. In the United States, charms for gold bracelets became popular during World War II. The charms traditionally included military insignia, flags, airplanes and wings worn by women in recognition of those who served in the armed forces. Post-war prosperity transformed the cheap bracelets into fine gold bracelets with quality jewelry made from medium to heavy gold links to which charms could be attached.
GOLD BRACELET HISTORY
The history of gold bracelets goes back as far as 4000 BC. with the earliest examples coming from ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. Gold jewelry was worn by men and women. It was highly desirable as a symbol of wealth and power. Gold bracelets were a rare luxury and were often studded with colorful gemstones. Gold continued to be sought after as an adornment in many parts of the world throughout subsequent history, with many notable and exquisite examples of gold jewelry from all major ancient and modern civilizations. It turned out that mixing pure gold with other metals made for stronger, more robust jewelry that was also cheaper. Yellow gold dominated until white gold was invented in the 19th century
One of the first written records of people wearing bracelets is found in the Hebrew Scriptures. The Bible mentions that there are three types of bracelets: one worn only by men, one worn only by women, and one worn by both sexes. Although bracelets of gold are often mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures, their characteristics are not described. Some of the oldest bracelet artifacts were constructed from yellow gold. Most gold bracelets were semi-angular, or oval, with expanding, trumpet-shaped ends. Gold bracelets were typically unadorned and hammered and bent into shape, while bronze bracelets were decorated with patterns
